Otium
Otium are a five-piece band, born and raised in Whangārei.
Presenting a unique, evolving sound, their dynamic live shows will leave you fully engrossed from the first crack of the snare to the last bass lick.
Their brand of smooth harmonies, funk stabs and solid rhythms will turn any crowd into a sweaty, dancing mess no matter the occasion.
Our Story.
Established in 2014, Otium have managed to achieve a number of musical milestones.
They released their debut, self-titled, EP in 2017 and have followed up with multiple successful single releases.
After playing stand alone sold out shows around the country, Otium embarked on their first headline tour of Aotearoa in 2018, thanks to funding from Creative New Zealand.
They have supported artists such as Sons of Zion, Cornerstone Roots, and Ocean Alley. Other live highlights include Soundsplash, Fritter Festival and Bay of Islands Festival.
The band are constantly creating and writing together, telling stories and experimenting. With Covid-19 putting a halt to a number of planned live performances, 2020 has been spent making new music. The band are busy recording tracks for their sophomore EP, set for early 2021 release.
